This class caught my eye because we have been talking about COVA in my Lamar classes. I realized the presenter is also a Lamar student. She called one of the professors from Lamar, one of the founders of COVA.
Here is the link to her presentation.

Welcome to my blog. I created this blog to help others expand their knowledge and to learn from other teachers. This is a great place for teachers to share their ideas, tips, and tricks for using technology in the classroom. Integrating technology in the classroom daily is a wonderful way to keep your students engaged.

Google Sheets Supercharged
This class was super fast and full of information. It was jam packed with information. Google Sheets can do all sorts of great things. It is more than just lines on a page. There are options that are hidden in different places. They have updated it a lot recently.

Digital Portfolios
When I selected this class, I didn't realize it was going to be a sales pitch type of class. I thought it was going to be more about how to build a portfolio. The presenter was very nice and informative, but the class wasn't what I was expecting.
The product she used is called, "Bulb". It does look like something that would be useful for students. I could see a student starting to build a portfolio of all there accomplishments, goals, and educational reflections so they would have all their information in one place. This could be something they could put on college applications to show how they have grown as a student.
Here is the handout that I received while in the class.
Check it out for yourself and see what you think. Please share your thoughts and feelings about it.

Microsoft Office
The presenter was awesome. She was full of energy and made the class not boring! You never know what to expect when you go to these type of classes, so it was refreshing to have a presenter that seemed to have "too much coffee". LOL
She is the Microsoft trainer in the Houston area and does FREE training for schools. If you or your district needs training, call her. You will be glad.
I prefer all things Google, but Microsoft is improving. I wish Google and Microsoft could become friends, rather than competitors. I will say that I LOVE PowerPoint. It has some really cool new features, if you like presentation, check it out.

We Love the Panel!
YIPPIE!
I felt brave again this week and decided to try something new.
We used the panel successfully again! It was so fun! They loved it! They were so happy to see themselves on the panel. It was so sweet to hear them talk about their photos and point out their friends. They were fascinated just looking at their own pictures. Little did they know they were learning just looking at the photos and names.
Recognizing names is an important part of the Pre-K curriculum. It covers so many things. We do lessons such as: letter recognition, letter matching, uppercase and lowercase letters, beginning sounds, syllables, etc.
I am very impressed how careful they were, how they helped tell each other how to do it, and how smoothly they came up to it and took turns.
The second time we used it, they took to it like "a duck takes to water" as my grandma used to say. It was a natural thing for them. I am amazed at how fast they adapted to using it. It makes me think they will be able to use it as effectively and efficiently as the kindergarten class did last year.
I have high hopes for the next several pages of our "Morning Meeting"!

More Heidi info
Here is a document that I am going to try in my class. She has a good idea for writing. She teaches transitional kindergarten. (I am teaching Pre-K this year.)
I am going see if this will work with my class. They want to write. They are trying really hard and I think this will help them.
Check out the photos she has on her site. The kids seem to like it.
