Proud Teacher Moment

#happyclassrooms

I am a proud teacher!  I had 10 of my students who entered into the Multi-Media Festival win metals at the campus level.
Then 3 of them won at the district level!

Google Classroom - Helpful Hints

The "About" tab can be used to add things you will need all year like, links, YouTube videos, or your schedule.  Limit these attachments to 5 to 10 so it doesn't get crowded with info.

Use the "plus sign" and make an announcement to add links the students will need, rather than making it an assignment.

Three kinds of comments:
-General comments for the whole class.
     -Student comments to individual students.
     -Specific comments on certain assignments.

Change the class photo and use it for information rather than just decoration.  It is 1500 x 400 pixels.  Google Drawings can be use to add information by using a text box and then downloading the file as a jpg.

Google Classroom - Get Started Now

Google Classroom is a useful way to make paperless communication possible between teachers and students.

Teachers can assign videos for students to watch, read instructions on an assignment, or edit and produce documents.

When teachers attach a document, it can be done in 3 ways
view a document,
edit a document,
or make a copy of the document.

Other ways to use Google Classroom

*Rearrange the order of your Classrooms.  Click, drag, and drop to where you want it or click the 3 dots.

*View each student's information by clicking on a student's name and you can see what assignments they have completed, graded, or not completed.

*Enlarge CLASS CODE by clicking on the drop down menu and clicking "DISPLAY" so it can be seen by students.

*Transfer the OWNERSHIP of a class to another teacher.

*Allow teachers to give grades using decimals instead of just whole numbers.

*Assign additional practice assignments for certain students not the whole class.

*Assign the same assignment to multiple classes.

*Schedule assignments to post at a certain time.  Great way to plan ahead or plan for a substitute.

Morning Meeting Continued

MORE MORNING MEETING......

We have been using the ClearTouch Panel on a daily basis in my classroom.  The class loves it and looks forward to using it.  We start each day with taking attendance, and move into our review called "Morning Meeting".

The class has learned to use conduct the Morning Meeting with very little assistance from me.  Some of them appoint themselves as the "page turner" and helper.

We practice things such as months of the year, days of the week, and math skills like 10 frames and coins.

Quiver - A 3D coloring app

Have you heard of Quiver?  It is a 3D coloring app that makes the pictures come alive right before your eyes.  It takes coloring to a whole new level.  It is like magic on paper.  It is a great way to introduce augmented reality to young children.
You can download and print out free coloring pages.  Each page does different things like a neighing horse, a dancing penguin, or a game to play.  Try it out, the possibilities are endless!

Finalist Luncheon

I am a finalist for the Martel award given by the Houston Children's Museum.  There are 4 of us in the finals. The awards ceremony is at the end of April.  We were invited to a luncheon today at the River Oaks Country Club.
The board members will schedule classroom visits over the next few weeks to help them determine the final winner.  I am honored to be part of this process.  They really made us feel appreciated and special during the luncheon.  Our names were in the program as well as the slideshow they projected on the big screen during lunch.
Wouldn't you know it? I managed to get an autograph of a famous person. Dr. Jennifer was our motivational speaker. Super nice lady!! She was very encouraging!!
